Every year, from around June to August, there are various documentaries about World War II in Japan. Every year, there are always new findings based on new historical records which were discovered or released to the public. My heart aches every year I hear about all the victims of the harsh battles in Okinawa. During the Pacific War, Okinawa was the only place in the mainland of Japan that U.S. Army and the British Army, the Allies, landed. Time flies. Today is June 23rd. The memorial day of World War II in Okianwa.

I write this not out of hatred toward the U.S. Army or British Army at that time. There were many casualties among the U.S. Army and the British Army in the Okinawa Battle. June 23st is the day for them in addition to Korean and Taiwanese people who fought for Japan. For everyone who lost their lives in Okinawa. It is a day of prayers for peace in their soul in Okinawa. And, it is a day for every Japanese to remember what peace means to Japan.
I can’t remember when exactly. However, it was not about Okinawa. On August 15th, a TV documentary showed a diary or elementary school student saying, “The loss of Japan is disappointing.” It was one of millions of students’ opinions in Japan. The documentary did not tell where the student resided.
